CBD – What is it and does it work?
Becoming strong and healthy are just a few benefits that can be gained from doing any form of exercise, however it can come at a price. Training & competing in BJJ has lead to me suffering joint soreness and muscle fatigue, or it could be due to me hitting the big 40 later this year!
CBD oil based products have been showing up on the BJJ radar more and more, and looking into it I’m intrigued to the benefits and if it could benefit me! In the past, like many, I’d simply crack open the ibuprofen and toss back one or two the day after training, but I am hoping that a CBD oil based solution, might be a natural way to speed up the recovery time.
What is CBD?
CBD is one of many chemical compounds in a class called “Cannabinoids” that naturally occur in cannabis plants.
Doesn’t Cannabis get you high? Yes and No! CBD has very low levels of the compound THC. THC is probably the most famous cannabinoids as it has an ability to get you high.
What are the Benefits of CBD?
CBD has a lot of good anti-inflammatory agents within it, which helps alleviate pain during and after exercise and relief from the pain of achy muscles. Some of the other reported benefits of taking CBD are relief from anxiety, PTSD, menstrual cramps, insomnia, nausea, seizures & bowel inflammation.
I will trial the products that I won from HEMPGUARD and will do a follow up blog in a few weeks to let you know what I think. I am hoping for recovery time to be quicker and I might even manage to shift this niggling neck issue I have had for nearly eight weeks.
